Vinitaly

Vom 2. bis 6. April findet hier in Verona die beruehmte Weinmesse Vinitaly statt. Die ist so beruehmt, dass vielleicht einige von euch sie sogar kennen ( ist international) oder vielleicht sogar schon mal dort waren. Ich war in den letzten 5 Jahren nicht ein einziges mal auf der Messe. Nicht weil es mich nicht interessieren wuerde, sondern weil der Eintrittspreis von 35 Euro mich abschreckt. Dafuer kann man dann Weine aus aller Welt probieren und natuerlich fuer viel Geld kaufen. Was mich ein bischen wundert ist, dass sehr viele der Stadt- und Provinz-Busfahrer (mein Mann ist einer) Freikarten bekommen....das gibt zu denken. Mein Mann hat uebrigens keine Karten bekommen, sonst wuerde ich sicher gehen.

Aber ob ich sie mir jetzt ansehe oder nicht, diese Messe beeinflusst trotzdem meinen Tagesablauf fuer fast eine Woche, und das leider in sehr negativem Sinne. Ich bin bei uns im Buero dafuer zustaendig jeden morgen das Fruehstueck (das mein Chef grosszuegigerweise spendiert) mitzubringen, allerdings liegt zwischen meiner Wohnung und der Konditorei das Messegelaende. Da ist zur Zeit kein Durchkommen! Nachdem ich am Mittwoch morgens fast eine halbe Stunde im Stau zwischen riesigen LKWs gestanden bin und nur durch halsbrecherische und ganz und gar nicht machbare Manoever (inkl. gegen die Einbahnstrasse) wieder rausgekommen bin (was bin ich froh, dass hier Italien ist), habe ich beschlossen, dass es bis zum Ende der Messe kein Fruehstueck fuers Buero gibt und ich einen (leider doch recht grossen) Umweg fahre. Abends geht leider nicht der gleiche Umweg wie morgens, so dass ich durchs Stadtzentrum muss und trotzdem im Stau stehe. Ich haette mir meine Freikarten echt verdient.
Ich moechte dazu auch noch anhaengen, dass Verona nicht nur eine relativ ruhige Stadt ist, sondern noch dazu eine bekannte Messestadt, aber was waehrend der Weinmesse ablaeuft ist der reine Wahnsinn.

From April 2 to 6 in Verona there's the famous international wine exhibition Vinitaly, which is so famous you could even know it of perhaps you've even been there. In my 5 years in Verona I've never visited the exhibition, not because I'm not interested but because I don't want to spend the 35 Euros entrance fee. Of course in there you can try wine from all over the world and buy it at high prices. What makes me think every year is, that lots of the local bus drivers (DH is one) get free tickets....DH did not get them or I would have gone.

Visiting or not, the exhibition has a great influence on my days, and these are not positive. I'm the one who every morning takes our breakfast to the office (which or boss kindly offers for all), but on the way from my appartment to the bakery I have to pass the trade fair areal. Which is impossible to pass! When wednesday I passed almost 30 minutes jammed in my really small car between these really big trucks before I got the chance, with not very legal manoeuvres (including doing a one way road in the wrong direction), to get out of it (fortunately that's quite normal in Italy, no one would have fined me), I at last decided that there would be no breakfast for the office this week. I have to go different detours in the morning and in the evening to be in time and in the evening it's quite impossible to avoid traffic. I would have earned my free tickets.
I'd like to ad that Verona is not only a normally quiet city, but also known for its many trade fairs and exhibitions and should be able to handle that, but what happens at this one exhibition is just crazy.
