Knit-a-square

Ich stricke ja nun noch nicht so lange, aber es sammeln sich halt mittlerweile die ersten Wollreste an und mir stellte sich die Frage, was mach ich denn damit. Viele Garne sind auch fuer Baby-Sachen etc. zu wenig oder zu dick....dann bin ich durch Zufall uber folgende Aktion gestolpert (und nach dem Motto "ein guter Stolperer faellt nicht", fand ich mein Problem geloest):

In der Aktion werden gestrickte Vierecke der Groesse 20x20cm gesammelt, zu bunten Decken zusammengenaeht und an Strassenkinder in Suedafrika verteilt. Es wir auch sehr gut erklaert (auf englisch halt) wie man die Teile verpackt und wohin man sie schickt. Ausserdem wird die ganze Aktion sehr gut vorgestellt.
Ich mag so konkrete Aktionen, wo garantiert nicht irgendwo Geld (weil man spendet ja keins!) in irgenwelchen Verwaltungen verloren gehen kann. Und ich kann also sogar mit meinen Wollresten kreativ noch was gutes tun. Also macht euch doch auch mal eine Idee von der Sache. Ciao

I've not been knitting for a long time up to now but the first remains of yarn are already gathering in my bag. And I wondered what to do wiht it as most of it can't even be used for mall items like baby clothes because it's too little or to bulky. Then I came across the following site (and found my problem solved in the best way possible): www.knit-a-square.com

These people are collecting knitted squares of 8x8 inches for making blankets to give away to orphans lining in the streets of South Africa. They explain very well how to make and send your squares and present their idea in every detail.
I like these direct projects where non of your money can get lost in some strange administration (because they don't ask you money). And I can do something creative and good with my remains. So try and get an ideas of the project yourselves. Bye.
